Michele Viana is a consultant neurologist and PhD. In 2010 he completed a clinical fellowship at the Headache Group, Department of Neurology, UCSF, USA. He attained his residency in neurology at the University of Eastern Piedmont (Novara, Italy) in 2011. Subsequently, he has worked for 7 years as a clinical researcher at the Headache Science Center in Pavia, Italy. Since September 2018 he is visiting researcher at the Headache Group at King's College London, UK.
Dr. Viana has published several studies on headache, with a particular focus on the clinical characteristics of migraine with aura and without aura, pharmacogenetics aspects of migraine and MOH, women's issues in migraine, misdiagnosis/underdiagnosis of migraine and TACs and the clinical, psychological and genetic factors involved in migraine chronification/MOH. He is a member of the Educational committee of IHS as well as the Italian Language committee of the IHS.
